Discuss a project ↗

Everything, clear before you send.

Technical preparation, revisions, delivery and payment — the essentials for a smooth session from the first export to the final master.

01What file format should I send?

WAV or AIFF only — no MP3 or other lossy material. Files must be at least 24-bit, although 32-bit float is strongly recommended. Export at the same sample rate used for the mix: do not upsample or downsample it yourself, and do not apply dither.

02How should I prepare the mix bus and levels?

Remove the final limiter. Avoid mix-bus clipping unless it is an essential part of the record’s sound, and keep other mix-bus processing only when it is intentional and fully under control. For 32-bit float files, peaks below 0 dBFS are preferred; no arbitrary headroom target is required. For 24-bit files, leave approximately 3–6 dB of headroom. Never use your DAW’s normalize function. Leave clean space before and after the music so final fades can be handled during mastering.

03Can I send a limited mix or reference tracks?

You may include a limited version to communicate your intended loudness and impact, but it is not required. Reference tracks are welcome when they clarify a specific intention, although they are not essential: every piece of music needs its own balance.

04What will I receive?

For every track and approved version, you receive two WAV masters: a 96 kHz / 24-bit high-resolution file and a second file at the sample rate of your choice — 48 kHz / 24-bit is recommended for most modern delivery. The final folder also includes a technical readme and MD5 checksums for file-integrity verification.

05What is the usual turnaround?

A single is usually delivered within 2 days, an EP within 3 days, and an album within 3 days or more depending on its length and complexity. The exact schedule is confirmed before the session begins.

06Is rush delivery available?

Yes, subject to availability. Rush fees are quoted according to the project, deadline and amount of work required.

07What counts as a revision?

A revision is a requested sonic adjustment to an existing master — for example loudness, EQ, tonal balance or dynamics. One revision is included. Further revisions are quoted according to the project and the changes requested.

08What if I send a new mix after mastering?

If the new mix remains close to the original, it may be handled as a paid revision. If the balance, arrangement or content has changed substantially, it is treated as a new mastering service. Each case is assessed fairly from the actual files.

09How should stems be prepared?

Stems should follow a clear musical logic — typically vocals, effects, instruments, bass and drums — and must reconstruct the mix accurately when combined. Use the same export rules as for a stereo mix and do not apply dither. For 24-bit stems, headroom is assessed on the complete summed mix rather than on each isolated stem.

10What is an alternative version?

Any deliverable whose audio content differs from the main mix: instrumental, a cappella, clean version, alternate vocal, club version, radio edit or similar. Each alternative is checked and delivered as its own master.

11What information is required for a DDP?

All sequencing and metadata must be supplied by the client, including exact titles, artist names, ISRCs, CD-Text and any other required codes. The information must be correct down to every character. You may prepare it yourself or use a specialist metadata service.

12How does payment work?

For singles, no deposit is required: a test file is sent for approval, then the complete final folder is released after payment. EPs and albums require a 50% deposit before the session, with the balance due before final delivery. Vietnam: bank transfer or cash. International: SEPA transfer within Europe or Wise elsewhere; transaction fees are paid by the client.

13Can I attend the session in person?

Yes, for clients physically present in Ho Chi Minh City and by prior arrangement. Please arrive on time: unannounced lateness that disrupts the booked session may incur an additional fee.

14What is the cancellation and refund policy?

A deposit is fully refundable or transferable until work begins. Once the session has started, the deposit covers the reserved time and work already performed and is non-refundable. If Tyrell Sound cannot complete the agreed service, any relevant payment is refunded. After final approval, full payment and delivery, no refund is available; any confirmed technical delivery error will, of course, be corrected.

15How are confidentiality and portfolio use handled?

Every project remains strictly confidential until its official release. After release, Tyrell Sound may list the project in selected credits. Audio excerpts may also be presented on the Tyrell Sound website unless the client opts out explicitly in writing.

16Do you prepare vinyl or Apple-compatible masters?

Tyrell Sound can prepare vinyl pre-masters but does not provide lacquer cutting. The studio is not Apple Digital Masters certified, but can prepare intersample-safe files aligned with Apple’s technical delivery requirements without claiming official ADM certification. Both services are quoted according to the project.
